Mr. Cornell has more than 23 years experience as a commercial litigator representing clients in complex commercial litigation. His practice encompasses representation of both plaintiffs and defendants in commercial litigation. Mr. Cornell has experience in advising and representing corporate policyholders in recovering on their insurance policies and maximizing their insurance assets in first and third party claims, insurance bad faith actions, and coverage actions. His areas of experience also include construction litigation, professional liability defense, eminent domain and general commercial litigation, among others.

Mr. Cornell has:

  • Co-founded and served as immediate past chair of the Insurance Law Section of the State Bar of Texas
  • Authored Cornell's Texas Insurance Law Digest, a single volume reference work concerning Texas insurance opinions
  • Recovered millions of dollars in insurance benefits for insurance policyholders
  • Made frequent presentations on insurance, class action and related issues
  • Obtained de-certification of a class in class action suit involving approximately 4000 landowners
  • Authored a variety of articles and presentations, including "Disputes Among Insurance Carriers," "Class Actions After Bernal," "Class Actions In Texas," "Everything a General Counsel Needs to Know About Insurance Law," "Piercing the Iron Curtain of Silence: The Doctrine of Offensive Use Waiver," and other articles and presentations
